Films/Videos Locality Classification:
The Films/Videos locality classification (Locality) accepts films and videos that abide by the general rules of the contest and the following locality requirements:
(a.) contains the name of Wasaga Beach in its title and/or
(b.) The story of the Film is taking place in Wasaga Beach, Ontario and/or
(c.) the shooting location of the Film is in Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

Wasaga Beach Short Film Festival Category Descriptions
Drama
Dramas are serious, plot-driven presentations, portraying realistic characters, settings, life situations, and stories involving intense character development and interaction. Usually, they are not focused on special-effects, comedy, or action.
Action
Action films usually include high energy, physical stunts and chases, possibly with rescues, battles, fights, escapes, destructive crises (floods, explosions, natural disasters, fires, etc.), non-stop motion, spectacular rhythm and pacing, and adventurous, often two-dimensional 'good-guy' heroes (or recently, heroines) battling 'bad guys' - all designed for pure audience escapism.
Documentary
Documentary films involve putting together real life events and people to tell a particular story.Films in this genre can involve a narrator, interviews and real footages of real events. They are done to execute social commentaries or to simply put historical events into a new light.
Comedy
Humor to amuse by inducing laughter is the main driving force of comedy films. Anything with slapstick moments, witty dialogue and satirical elements are included in this genre. Parodies and spoofs are the most obvious types of comedy movies while some involve a mix of action, adventure and romance.
Video Advertisement
This is a 30 second advertisement competition open to Wasaga Beach businesses, associations, institutions, corporate subsidiaries, corporate franchises, government branches at all levels of government operating in Wasaga Beach, service groups, churches, private groups, individuals, any organization that has a local connection to Wasaga Beach that will create an advertisement about their value proposition and or create awareness for Wasaga Beach residents and visitors about the great attractions, natural beauty, the community and positive attributes related to Wasaga Beach.
Smart Phone
Films about the categories of Drama, Action, Documentary and Comedy defined above using a smart phone or series of smart phones to< produce the film.
Sports Cam
Sport films that are associated with sports of any kind; water sports, wind surfing, golf, winter skiing, hiking, fishing, sailing and any other sport that is enjoyed in Canada, filmed using a sports cam or series of sports cams to produce the film.
Music Video
Includes works made to specifically promote and/or compliment a music soundtrack. Music video can feature any musician, singer, size of music group, music ensemble, concert band, choir, singing group.
General
Films about the categories of Drama, Action, Documentary and Comedy defined above in the English or French language with no restrictions to film on Wasaga Beach location, include Wasaga Beach in the title or include Wasaga Beach in any way in the story line but subject to all of the general rules and standards stipulated or implied in the Wasaga Beach Short Film Festival Rules and Regulations.
